RANDOLPH — Two people died and two others were transported with significant injuries after a head-on crash on Saturday, Utah Highway Patrol officials said.
A 2018 Toyota RAV4 was northbound on state Route 16 just north of Randolph at about 12:55 p.m., Utah Highway Patrol officials said. At the same time, a 2013 Ford Expedition was southbound.
The driver of the RAV4, for unknown reasons, swerved into oncoming traffic and struck the Expedition head-on. The driver and passenger of the Toyota RAV4 died in the crash, UHP officials said.
The driver of the Expedition was transported to the hospital by ambulance and the passenger was airlifted. The driver and the passenger of the Expedition had significant injuries, according to UHP.
The roadway was closed for approximately four hours with little impact on traffic.
The identities of those involved was not released.
