LDS Church groundbreaking of new Saratoga Springs temple draws hundreds

(KUTV) — A huge crowd gathered at an empty lot in Saratoga Springs’ Beacon Pointe subdivision for the groundbreaking ceremony for the new temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

On Saturday morning, hundreds of Utahns flocked to the area north of Meadow Side Drive and Redwood Road for the Church’s groundbreaking ceremony for the new temple.

Latter-day Saints rejoiced at the news of the location as they waited for the Church to say where it will be located.

The Saratoga Springs temple was one of five temples announced back in April 2017 by then Church President Thomas S. Monson.

In May, the Church released the location for the new temple and stated it filed plans with the city regarding the three-story building, including plans involving a 21,000-square-foot meeting house to be built adjacent to it.
