Man found dead in Salt Lake City; passerby alerts police

SALT LAKE CITY — Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in Salt Lake City on Saturday morning.

A passerby spotted the body of the deceased man near 338 W. Hansen Avenue about 7:45 a.m. and called police, according to Salt Lake Police Lt. Bill Manzanares.

The man apparently died of a gunshot wound, but investigators found no shell casings at the scene, Manzanares said.

Police did not receive any reports of shots fired in the area, he added.

More information is expected to be released later Saturday.
