Missing BYU-Idaho student found dead

REXBURG − James Vasseur’s body has been found.

”James Vasseur was found deceased this afternoon,” according to the Rexburg Police Department. “We extend our thoughts and condolences to his family and friends.”

Vasseur was reported missing last Thursday by his roommates. The Rexburg Police Department found him in a southwest centralized location but aren’t releasing the exact location. They said foul play is not suspected and the family has been notified.

“Many of you may have heard or seen already but James’ body was found. May he rest in a happier place,” the Vasseur Family wrote in a statment on Facebook. “We are collectively and sincerely grateful for all of the help from the university, the police department, the Church, and his roommates for all of their efforts to locate him. We are also so grateful for all of you, the family and friends. Thank you all for sharing the posts — it was your activism that led to him being found. Thank you for the prayers, well wishes, hope, and condolences. Funeral arrangements will be made and details to follow. Once again, thank you all for everything during this incredibly difficult time.”
