OGDEN — A Weber County couple has been arrested and accused of sexually assaulting two children and filming the crimes.
Police say the man, 33, was arrested for abusing the woman’s teenage daughters, while the woman, 37, was arrested for allowing it to happen.
KSL.com is not naming the couple to protect the identities of the victims.
The investigation began on Aug. 5 when the man called police to report that he committed sexual offenses against the woman and her two children at their southern Weber County home and wanted to turn himself in, according to a police booking affidavit.
In addition to sexually abusing the children, the man “admitted that he would drug/intoxicate (the woman) until she was unconscious, at which point he would have sex with her,” the affidavit states.
When police questioned the man, he “disclosed in the interview his sexual fetish with children and specified his preferred age ranges to be 3 to 5 years old or 10 to 15 years old,” according to the affidavit.
The man also claimed to police that when he told this information to the woman and how he wanted to engage in sexual activity with the younger daughter, she agreed “but wanted to be present during (the) activity … to ensure that (he) did not hurt her,” according to the arrest report.
Detectives reported finding several videos on the man’s phone of him committing sex crimes against his victims. Videos of the man sexually assaulting the young daughter appeared to be filmed by a third person, the affidavit states.
The woman told police she did not know the man was going to sexually abuse her daughter.
But “when confronted with the video footage and her being the one filming the activity, (she) only stated that she did not remember doing that,” the affidavit states.
The man was booked into the Weber County Jail for investigation of rape of a child, two counts of sodomy on a child, rape, object rape, unlawful sexual activity with a minor and two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. The woman was booked for investigation of rape of a child and sexual exploitation of minor.
