Wildfire updates: New fire in Washington County causes evacuations west of Enterprise

Enterprise City asks residents to prepare for evacuations as the Flat Fire near the Washington-Iron County line grows

Enterprise City officials said on Facebook before 6 p.m. Friday that residents in the North Hills Subdivision and residents on North Center Street to be ready to evacuate. The city advised residents in those areas to gather their items in case of an evacuation.

The fire is burning and growing between Beryl and Enterprise, west of Cedar City, and multiple agencies have responded.

The Iron County Sheriff’s Office also posted shortly before 6 p.m. that the fire started about 1:20 p.m. near 2000 S. Old Modena Road in Beryl and appears to have started from a lightning strike. Evacuation orders are in place from the location of where the fire began east to 2400 West and south to Enterprise, the sheriff’s office said.
